Ordering Information

Public Schools
We welcome orders from schools in the form of a valid purchase order signed by the principal. Purchase order transactions cannot be made via this site; they must be sent via mail or fax to:

We do not require credit references. There is no discount for orders of one to four books. For orders of five or more books (assorted titles) we extend a 20% discount. All purchases are nonreturnable (unless the merchandise is damaged upon receipt). Our terms are net 30. We ship the least expensive way available unless you specify otherwise on the purchase order. Freight will be FOB Berkeley, California. There is no discount on posters, and books and posters ship separately.

Private Schools
Same as public schools, except that we do require credit references. Please download our credit application, then fax to (510) 559-1628. You can also call (800) 841-2665 to request that a form be sent to you.

Author Visits

Tricycle Press offers schools that are hosting an author visit special discounts and terms on book purchases. Call our order department at (800) 841-2665 with the date of the author’s appearance to set up a special account.

Here are some things that you can do with all the dough you’ll be saving:

Pass on the whole discount to your students.
Charge retail price and put the money toward purchasing books for your library or classroom.
Charge retail price and put the money toward more author visits.
Do a little of both: offer students and parents a 30% discount, then put what’s left into whatever fund you want!

Call our order department with the date of the author’s appearance and set up a special account. Schools will receive net-30 terms and 30-day returnable privileges. Once again, the number to call is (800) 841-2665. Offer applies only to specific school visits. We require a month’s notice to allow for shipping. If you are interested in having an author visit your school or library, please fill out our Author Visit Request Form.

Public Schools
We strongly encourage event planners to work with their local bookseller when organizing author events. Please call (888) BOOK-SENSE for a store near you. Books ordered for an author visit directly from Ten Speed Press, whether by a school or a retailer, are eligible for a 50% discount and net-60 billing. We will accept returns that are accompanied by a dated packing slip for up to 60 days after the date of invoice. All other terms are as listed for public schools. Private Schools

Book Fairs or “Author-less” Events

Public Schools
For specific book events (in which an author is not present) that are organized by a school rather than a retailer, we extend our book trade discount (click here link to Ordering Information for our ordering information and discount schedule), but we do require prepayment. We will accept returns that are accompanied by a dated packing slip for up to 60 days after the date of invoice.

Private Schools

Course Adoptions/Basic Text

Desk Copies/Examination Copies

We’re happy to furnish examination copies for review as textbooks or supplementary reading. Please submit requests on letterhead and include the following information: intended use, class size, course name, and course frequency. Fax your request to (510) 559-1629, attn: Desk Copies, or mail to:
